Bakare partners Afenifere against PDP

Fiery preacher, Pastor Tunde Bakare is partnering with Afenifere Renewal Group to tackle the ruling PDP in next year’s election through the grassroots.

The pastor who made an Independence Day live broadcast to the nation when he assured Nigerians that God would soon arrest the current bastardisation of the nation’s cherished political structures, said the nation’s renaissance has come and no one can stop.

“We have set sail many times in our recent history, putting the cart before the horse and moving backwards instead of forward,” Bakare said, “now that we are almost running aground, maybe we should revisit with urgency it deserves the issues that will safeguard our survival and oneness as a nation.

The issues can no longer be kept at the back of the burner if we are truly concerned about the hope of our future and the future of that hope.”

According to the gospel preacher, he has began consultation with men and women of like minds including the Afenifere Renewal Group led by Honorable Olawale Osun, fellow traveller, Rev. Chris Okotie and others desiring a departure from the PDP brand of politics in the country, with a view to running for offices at the local government level and from there gradually move to the centre at the appropriate time.

He therefore urged all Nigerians of like minds to begin now by registering their presence in all the local governments of the country and move steadily to the centre which, according to him, is the destination of point.

“Lawlessness is pervading now in Nigeria and the law enforcers are being overworked, stretched and overtly pressurised…we must all act conceitedly now to forestall the likely natural occurrence of complete chaos because then, neither the oppressed nor the oppressor will have either succour or respite.

When the morning of doom dawns, even the soldiers and the police will run for their lives. World histories have confirmed this,” Pastor Bakare warned.

Painting a very pathetic picture of the helplessness of the nation’s law enforcement agents who, he said now supply ammunition to armed robbers to augment their pay, Pastor Bakare blamed the  situation on what he called “government by crony and for the cronies, the hangers_on and recipients of favours for old times’ sake.”

Also speaking at the media parley that preceded the broadcast, chairman of the Afenifere Renewal Group, Hon. Osun said the group has perfected plans to liaise with other groups across the country to arrest the current rot in the nation’s polity and the collapse of our productive sector and infrastructure.

According to him, poverty does not know religion or tribe. He therefore appealed to all well meaning Nigerians across the country to strive to work together with a view to revitalising our decrepit industries, infrastructures, stating that we can only have peace in Nigeria when there is food in the stomachs of the majority of the nation’s population.

Mr. Yinka Odumakin, the group’s secretary explained the relationship between the group and a religious leader, saying that the man of God had attended several of their programmes and is as interested in the group as the group is interested in his courage to confront a bad governmental system. “We believe that the problem of electoral malpractice goes beyond the removal of Prof Maurice Iwu,” he maintained.
