After a successful run off last year, the Nigerian Breweries PLC sponsored Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) TV reality show returns.
Created as a platform for the actualisation of dreams for young consumers of the Amstel Malt who want to become stars.
The first edition took place in November 2005 and showcased more than 10,000 applicants across the country who were screened to arrive at the final ten which entered the AMBO House.
After 21 episodes of thrills, entertainment and the housematesâ€™ varying exhibitions of acting talents, Azizat Sadiq, came out tops to win our hearts and the first prize of N2.5m and a starring role in the AMBO block buster movie Sitanda which went ahead to win 5 awards at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards.
The second edition of AMBO took place in November 2006 and again more than 4,000 applicants nationwide were auditioned to arrive atÂ top twenty.
And at a star studded opening event held at the Federal Palace hotels in Victoria Island the top ten were selected.
They again lived together in the AMBO house and after another 21 episodes of hard work and great talent exhibitions, OC Ukeje emerged winner and his blockbuster movie White Waters premiered in November 2007 with great reviews.
The movie starred A-list Nollywood stars namely Rita Dominic, Joke Silva and a new face Jibril Hoomsuk amongst others. White Waters bagged 4 awards at the 2008 African Movie Academy Awards with OC Ukeje as best upcoming actor which indeed was true to Amstel Malta producing young stars.
The third edition took place in November 2007 and after the reality TV show, Bhaira McWizu emerged as the winner out of over 18,000 applicants. Her movie Cindyâ€™s Notes which touched the hearts of many young Nigerians as it focused on the National Youth Service Corps and its impact on society debuted in November 2008 with great reviews.
Bhaira is already filming her next Nollywood project. The fourth edition which once again had thousands of young dreamers registering took place in November 2008 with over 21,000 registrations.
Adewole Ojo was crowned the new king of AMBO. He is currently on location filming his new movie which will debut this year.
This year, According to NB plc Corporate affairs adviser Yusuf Agen, â€œis once again geared up for a show that will be bigger and better packed with all new excitement, surprises and ultimately a winner that will win the hearts of consumers around the country
The prizes are 2.5 million naira, a brand new Honda car and the lead role in another Nollywood chart buster.
