2010: Nwosu emerges ADC’s guber candidate

ONITSHA—The national chairman of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), Chief Okey Nwosu has emerged the party’s flagbearer for the governorship election fixed for February 6, 2010 in Anambra state.

Nwosu was nominated by 116 delegates from the 326 wards,21 local governments and members of the state executive of the party present in a congress held Wednesday at the Tourist Garden hotel, Awka.

Although there were three governorship aspirants for the primaries namely, chief Okey Nwosu, chief Anayo Arinze(national publicity secretary) and Princess Mma Agwuna, two of the aspirants stepped down for Nwosu before the exercise on grounds that he had contributed so much to the growth of the party.

Speaking, one of the aspirants, Arinze said they decided to step down for Nwosu after series of consultations and meetings with the national and state executives of the party, saying that they will support their flagbearer to achieve victory come 2010.

The national secretary of the party, Alhaji Saidu Abdulahi who conducted the congress said the party was formed to transform Nigeria because of the bad leadership the nation had had in the past.
