BENIN – THE Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Engr. Hussein Labo, weekend assured that the management of the company would not relent its efforts in providing the right equipment to achieve the December 6000MW target set for it by the Federal Government.
He said it was as a result of the company’s commitment to achieve this goal that the management conceived the idea of sensitizing the workers after series of negotiations and discussions with the two in-house labour unions, the National Union of Electricity Employees and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) to fashion out how to achieve the target, particularly in the area of staff motivation.
Engr. Labo, who was represented by the General Manager in charge of Industrial Relations, Mr Clement Odumodu, at a one day workers’ rally for Benin Distribution Zone asserted that “ we are here to set the records straight on whatever the workers may have heard and to also sensitize them on the need to brace up for the challenges that will arise, as the nation moves towards the realization of the 6000MW target.
“We have provided all it takes to make the date realistic but we need the support of all our staff for it to succeed because we cannot afford to fail the Federal Government.â€
Speaking also at the rally, the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comrade Joe Ajaero and President of the SSAEAC, Comrade Godwin Ifanacho, declared their support for the pledge, assuring that they would cooperate with the management of PHCN to ensure that they met the target in order not to fail their customers.
