The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) yesterday attributed the death of late Lagos lawyer and social crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi to series of incarcerations he suffered under the military dictatorship and other anti-democratic forces in the country.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has summoned the former governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili, Director general, Nigerian Stocks Exchange, NSE, Dr. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke and five directors of TRANCORP over alleged debts owed the five banks whose Managing Directors and board were removed recently by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

“He was a true image of Nigerian unity; a pillar for the poor and a voice that spoke against the enemies of the people – the oppressors and the corrupt. It is a known fact that Chief Gani has played the most significant role in the development of modern law in Nigeria from his law reports to the uncountable cases that he handled through our court systems, most of which were substantially pro bono and the country will forever remain grateful for such a monumental role he played.

RIBADU! Nuhu Ribadu is a positive accident to this government. If Obasanjo had known or he had been told by Adeboye or Olabayo or Mike Okonkwo through their vision that things would be like this, he would not have appointed him.
