OWERRI – The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) says it has completed arrangements for the 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Movement.

According to a release by MASSOB’s Deputy Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, “it is expected that the MASSOB Leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, will during the celebration, address foreign press to mark the 10th year of the struggle for independence”.

He disclosed that some of the activities lined up to mark the event includes but not
limited to thanksgiving service in churches, special prayers for their fallen compatriots, football matches, processions and visit to orphanages.

Making special reference to the Movement’s brush with security agencies, Mocha recalled that “the New Biafra was enacted in Aba, Abia State on May 22, 2000 and since then, the Federal Government had visited all sorts of atrocities on our defenceless members”.

Mocha recalled with grief that 3,000 of its loyalists in Imo and Anambra states have died since the struggle began, while many have been incarcerated without trial or convicted by a court of law.
