Super Eagles’ former captain, Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh, says the current squad is lacking enough character to carry Nigeria through a difficult World Cup terrain like his team did in 2001.

The former Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder said in an interview with that the difference is that his colleagues played regularly with some of the top clubs in Europe while the current lads are barely tying down shirts with average teams.

“Player quality was good in our days, compared to now. Because, when we were all playing, we had players playing in Ajax, players with Juventus, Inter Milan.

“We had players in Arsenal. And they were playing week in, week out in top leagues and the Champions League. So, they knew how to handle this type of pressure,” he reasoned.
