MEND wants militant leader, Jackrich released

By Emma Amaize
MOVEMENT for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND), yesterday, called for the release of militant leader, Mr Soboma Jackrich , aka Egberipapa , who was arrested  December last year by  the JTF after he came to honour an invitation for a peace parley by the Amayanabo of Buguma.

Spokesman of MEND, Jomo Gbomo in a press statement  said, Jackrich “is still languishing in Kuje Prison Abuja even after his lawyer has notified the government of his client’s desire to accept the amnesty offer”

“His continued detention is without any court order and he has not yet been charged with any offence to date.
“The selective amnesty parade of some individuals seems to confirm the suspicion of many observers that the entire exercise is a charade”, he asserted.

His words, “The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is against any form of discrimination and calls on the Amnesty Committee to ensure that Mr Jackrich participates and benefits from the programme as any other individual even though he may not be the big names they are looking out for”.
