Judges must be incorruptible – Kutigi

Abuja – The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Idris Kutigi, said Wednesday in Abuja that every judge must aspire to become incorruptible.

He made the remark while swearing-in three new Federal High Court Judges — Justices Emmanuel Obile, Joseph Chukwujekwu and Donatus Uwaezuoke.

Kutigi said although all the judges of the Federal High Court were doing well, they should fully abide by their oath of office.

“The judges are doing well. There is no problem at all, but every judge must abide by the oath of office, in strict adherence to professionalism,” he added.

Kutigi also advised them to be careful with the way they fraternised with the public, warning that “element of corruption can easily be acquired through such romance.”

He said the appointment of the new judges was aimed at addressing the alleged imbalance in the appointment of Federal High Court judges.
