Sokoto â€“ Sokoto state government is to spend a total of one billion two hundred and twenty-eight million nine hundred and sixty-three thousand eighty-seven naira four kobo (N1, 228,963,087.04) for the execution of various projects in the state.
The projects include roads construction and rehabilitation, supply of text books and medical equipment, rehabilitation of schools and upgrading of Primary Health Care Centre to General Hospital.
This was disclosed by Commissioners of Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Arzika Tureta and that Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello Aliyu Rabah to newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council rose from its meeting, Wednesday.
According to Tureta, â€œOf the amount, N310,606,013.00 would be spent on the construction of Bodinga â€“ Dingyadi road; N280,616,175.00 for asphalting of Sama and Tsafe roads within Sokoto metropolis; N172,295,582.00 for the expansion and rehabilitation of Government Secondary School, Kware; N127,337,512.50 for the rehabilitation and procurement of essential text books for Government Girls Secondary School, Gwadabawa.
â€œOther expenditure,â€ he continued, â€œinclude N100,000,000.00 for the supply of medical equipment to seven general hospitals in the state; N95,903,446.54 for upgrading of Sabon Birni Primary Health Centre to a General Hospital; N72,500,000.00 for upgrading Rikina â€“ Sanawa road and N69,704,358.00 for the rehabilitation of Attahiru Ahmed Secondary School.â€
Tureta added that the projects were of importance to the communities that they served.
The Budget and Economic Planning Commissioner, Alhaji Bello Aliyu Rabah also told newsmen that Government would soon present a supplementary budget to the House of Assembly in order to make provision for future expenditure.
