WORRIED by the increasing wave of armed robbery and kidnapping, which has seriously threatened the economy of the South Eastern states of the country, Governors and security chiefs in the zone yesterday, met in Enugu to seek ways of tackling the ugly development.

The party, which accused the ruling PDP of abusing its incumbency power by encouraging a do-or-die brand of politics that is morally bankrupt and bereft of principles, warned that the trend must be checked to avert a situation where Nigeria becomes a one-party state.

A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has awarded a penalty of N20 million as damages against some officials of the Lagos State government for wrongful detention, beating one Alhaji Adisa Adewale and the demolition of his property in Shangisa/Magodo area of the state.

The assassination came on a day the Federal Government announced the appointment of Ogbonnaya Onovo, as the nation’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP) shows the enormous task before the new Police helmsman.

The call was made, weekend, by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Youth Association of Nigeria, Lagos Branch during a press conference to mark this year’s Youth Week with the theme: “(Gross) Multiplying diverts you” aimed at raising fund for the youth empowerment project.
