UMUAHIA—CHIEF Friday Nwosu, who dragged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State to court over alleged forged tax certificates, has vowed to continue with the matter despite “attacks and intimidation organised against him.”

Nwosu said he remained “resolute and undaunted, in spite of official and clannish attempts to appease him for an out-of-court settlement of the suit.”

Nwosu, a lawyer, was reacting to a statement allegedly made by a former governor of the state that he (Nwosu) must lose his tax forgery suit against Ikpeazu.

According to him, he has “resisted several attacks and intimidation organized against me in the course of his litigation,” insisting that he would not surrender.

Restating his commitment to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion, Nwosu said: “I will not withdraw the suit. I want the court to vindicate or vilify me.”

According to him, the former governor of the state had, while addressing some Ngwa people, assured them that Nwosu’s suit against Governor Ikpeazu on an alleged tax certificate forgery was bound to fail.

Ikpeazu and Nwosu are from Obingwa Local Government Area.

Nwosu quoted the former governor as having said: “I heard that some people are still in court; being engineered by others. They will fail. For sure, they will fail. If they did not succeed during the election tribunal, is it in this one they are going to succeed?”

Nwosu dragged Governor Ikpeazu to court for allegedly obtaining tax certificates for three consecutive years fraudulently. The matter comes up on April 28.
