Creating a state police which is bound to be abused by politicians will lead to major opposition parties creating parallel militias to protect their principals from alleged harassment and intimidation by state police force in the pocket of of state governors.

Lagos State House of Assembly today has called on the National Assembly to establish state police.

The House which held its first plenary weeks after the inauguration also called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently equip the Neighbourhood Safety Corps of the State so that its personnel could effectively perform the task of community policing.
