CHAIRMAN, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos West said yesterday that with the continued cases of armed banditry,  kidnappings and killings in the country must be nipped in the bud, it has become very imperative that State Police must as a matter of urgency, become oarof the Constitution Amendment process.

Again, the federal government has been urged to consider the option of allowing the establishment of State/regional police which would aid in combating the myriads of security challenges facing the nation.

In an interview with NAN, the Director-General of Kebbi Concerned Citizens (KCC), Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed, who reported the rape case to the state Police Command, said the suspects would soon be taken to court.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, weekend, said state police, as being canvassed by some Nigerians, including state governors, was not feasible  in Nigeria because of the complex nature of the country.

And if we decentralize and establish community policing, crime wave in the country would be cut down drastically.

Only last April, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, revealed that criminals killed a total of 1,071 persons in the first quarter of 2019.Northern states alone, recorded 767 of the killings, with North West witnessing 436 killings. Also, 685 persons were kidnapped nationwide. Zamfara alone recorded 281 cases.
