The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, N-HYPPADEC, has raised the alarm over wanton destruction of lives and property by flood in member states, begging the Federal Government to declare state of emergency on flood-ravaged states to reduce its impact.

Taraba State government has pleaded with the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to provide assistance to flood-ravaged communities across the state.

Heavy flood has sacked no fewer than two hundred houses and displaced over three hundred people in Argungu local government area of Kebbi state.

“The drainage channel, which defloods Bariga, Gbagada, Sholuyi downstream communities and environs, and discharges into System 1, has been taken over by squatters who have constituted a nuisance and security risk to the estate.”
