“The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki says that everybody has the right to support whoever he wants to support, but he forgot also that he doesn’t have the right to stop anybody from whom he wants to support.”

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Victor Enoghama has said the gale of defections rocking the two major political parties in the state, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not determine the outcome of the September 21 governorship election.

As the race for 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo state, draws near and tougher, a party faithful in the All Progressive Congress, APC, has questioned the chances of their candidate in the schedule September poll.

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Olumide Akpata, and the state government on Friday engaged in a war of words on Friday over an allegation by Akpata and his campaign organization that people believed to be agents of government pulled down his billboards in strategic places in Benin City, the Edo state capital, his home, and three local government areas.

Omoruyi described the event as a special one having been used by God to support and uplift their businesses and that the gesture was part of his campaign promises aimed at building a strong community.

“Some of our staff have been affected by these shootings. So, it is important that we interact with these security agencies and see how we can prefer solutions.”

“And I can tell you that Edo people are not in doubt on the choice they have to make in this election. APC certainly is absent from the table.”

“Many of us have left the party, we are just there physically, the way the primary went was not what we expected and all those who tried to ask questions were suspended from the party or forced to shut up or arrest them.”

“Political leadership is clearly the problem of Nigeria/ Edo State. I’m desperate for effective political leadership for my country and for my State.”

“As we prepare and move forward for the upcoming election we will do all we can to let Edo people know that this election is about Edo and the future of Edo.”

“The good news is that this house is so large with so many rooms and a big living room and can accommodate everyone as it has accommodated all of us today without much planning – no logistics is involved and no hiring of canopy.”

The state assembly is accusing the deputy governor of misconduct and divulging governments information to the public.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected Hon. Dennis Idahosa as its deputy governorship candidate in the September 21 Edo governorship election.

“The option is for the PDP not to go and argue against my candidacy, if they do that PDP will lose Edo State. Edo people do not want Asue Ighodalo to be the governor of Edo State because he is not a homeboy they know.”

“I am going to reach out to all the aspirants (under the PDP) starting from tonight. I’m going to try and convince them to join hands so we can work together for the sake of the party and the people of Edo State.”
