The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ok Wednesday condemned former deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu’s comment where he described the governorship candidate of the, Asue Ighodalo as an outsider in the coming election.

Shaibu had on Sunday also openly declared that he would be supporting the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Monday Okpebholo in the election.

The Deputy Director General of the Asue Ogie Campaign Management Council, Rev Olu Martins governorship campaign council, said they as students Union activists with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) were surprised with the political argument of Shaibu, as they were trained to argue on issues and not to be sentimental and proponent of ethnicity.

Martins said that the argument of Shaibu’s “home boy” slogan does not hold water “because the candidate didn’t grow up in Edo, doesn’t make him a stranger in his own state”.

He said, “I thought Shaibu will tell us that the candidate he wants to support has the capacity, intelligence, knack for excellence and smart which is the hallmark of a great leader.

“The honourable thing he should have done is to resign from the PDP like others and support the APC candidate. His argument is that of weak people,” he said.
