WHEN I listen to the utterances of Nigerian politicians, I remember the song of one musician, Tony Wilson, entitled, “The Politician Man of Many Words”. In that album, the artist described a politician as ‘a man of many words going to so many places, talking to so many people, and telling so many lies’.

IN the 1960s, thinkers coined the word “Knowledge Economy” to announce a radical shift from traditional economies. It was an extraordinary gift by intellectuals of that era to a world that some people thought had become sluggish, uncreative and desperately in need of ideas.

The editorial of any newspaper is a powerful tool. It often gives insight into the position that an organisation takes on crucial national issues and its pronouncements are usually tempered by measured caution to ensure that the newspaper does not lose its credibility or respect among readers.

The Area 10 Abuja Playing Ground has never witnessed the presence of that number of Very Important Personalities (VIPs) at the same time. The venue has in the last few years regularly hosted a Trade Fair aimed at promoting locally made goods produced in Aba, a commercial city in Abia State. The Fair started as the constituency project of Senator Enyinanya Abaribe (Abia South) who is now Chairman, Senate Committee on Mining, Power & Metallurgy. It is usually an event without so much noise or heavy VIP attendance.

To say that the ancient town of Koko in Warri-North LGA of Delta State is synonymous with the late Chief Ereomala Dedekumo Nanna Olomu ( 1852-1916 ) is to willfully blow the colossal, if not ‘larger than life’ personality of the latter out of proportion, so to speak.
