AGING, they say is not lost youth, but a new stage of opportunity and strength. Age on the hand is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. But to Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige (OON)’s friends, well-wishers, relations, and even enemies, it matters because he has just added another year, healthy, hearty, and wavering undeterred. There is no doubt that right from outset, the personality called Chris Ngige had always has a date with history one way or the other. As a growing young child, Ngige has always carved a niche for himself in all his endeavours.

Notwithstanding the predictions of catastrophe that followed the emergence of the leadership of the 8th Senate, the upper chamber has continued to prove critics wrong as it has since settled down to work.

I am moved to write this piece after reading an article in the VANGUARD of Thursday, August 6, 2015 by Is’haq ModibboKawu titled, “ Bukola Saraki in Maiduguri: Tentative first steps for 2019 Presidency”. It is evident that the article reeks of hate and seems aimed at either getting President Buhari to regard Saraki his enemy, or fortifying whatever grievances might exist, if that is the case.

As a distinguished Senator in the 7th National Assembly, I was dedicated and devoted to the sponsorship of various bills to regulate, develop and manage the National Health System. Of particular interest were my concerns for improvement of the regulation, development, and access to health services through the following Bills that I sponsored or supported in its passage

As recorded in 1 Samuel 1 verses 10 and 11, Hannah “was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord and wept sore.”. Verse 11, our main peg, states, “ And she vowed a vow and said , `O Lord of hosts, if you wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine hand maid, and remember me and not forget thy handmaid, but will give unto thine handmaid a child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head”.

This is not the best of times for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). These days, the commission is in the news for all the wrong reasons. From one naughty headline to sensational screamers, almost on daily basis, and the commission seems embattled. Unfortunately, or perhaps, fortunately, most of the stories have little or nothing to do with the present management. But that is not a beautiful excuse because governance, at whatever level, is an unfolding drama or what the policy makers call a continuum.

By the recent events in the Labour Party in the United Kingdom, observers are concluding the party has got a lot to contend with in the run up to announcing a leader on the 12th of September. It is less than a month before the new leader emerges, but last week saw the heightening of activities by the contenders in the party.

Anguish, pity, and helplessness gnawed at my heart as I waded through the multitudes of man-made human suffering at the various Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) centres in Adamawa with the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and other members of the Senate delegation on August 5, 2015.

It is gladdening to note that Enugu state under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has witnessed a remarkable level of financial discipline, probity, transparency and accountability borne out of his burning desire to keep the state on the right track of steady progress for socio-economic and political advancement.

It is a settled historical fact that Ile-Ife is the cradle of the Yorubas.We may not believe the myth of Ile Ife as the origin of human race, but we cannot deny the historical roots of Yoruba people as a whole in Ile-Ife.
