The alarm has gone off now. The warning as contained in the 2012 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction also added that the deluge and the attendant flood will not limit only to the above states.

ONE of the notorious quirks bedeviling governance in Nigeria is the tendency for what started out as a firm, decisive and desirable government action to unceremoniously fizzle out into blatant back-tracking or abrupt disinterest and lingering inaction, often witnessing a pathetic return to business as usual.

The country’s ambitious Vision 2020 programme and the UN Millennial Development Goals together represent considerable challenges in terms of economic revival.

FOLLOWING the elite squabbles that enveloped national politics in Nigeria prior to,during and after the 2011 elections, politicians who are sufficiently grounded in the dangers of such dysfunctional alignment of public interests with private elite interests,and knowing that under such conditions, there is the need to strengthen institutionalstructures for national political balance in Nigeria, sought for a national platform for broader political consensus that will prevent elite cannibalism in the country via a national conference.

THIS is not the best times for Nigeria. Presently, the unity of the country is being called to question. The federating units are all crying foul. The reason behind this national discord is that the rest of Nigeria must not sleep. They have already let loose their foot soldiers. And they are at work. But what could be their grouse?
