756 cases in 7 months: Experts seek tougher actions against Nigeria’s sexual violence
Despite existing laws, awareness campaigns and interventions by government and non-governmental organisations, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) remains a major concern in Nigeria, with 756 cases recorded by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) between January and July 2026.
