It was another gathering of celebrities, poets and book lovers as a new novel, “Baron of Broad Street” weaved around two adventurous youths with an opposing conqueror doctrine but solidly united in optimism was unveiled to the public last week in Lagos.

As one enters the gate of St. Pio Catholic church, Surulere, one will be greeted with two gigantic art works that depict Jesus and his disciples designed on the interiors of the walls of the church. The two creative works , carefully put together by an upcoming artist, Mr Valentine Ihemenwa are so monumental as it showcase the rich culture of Nigeria, and also promote unity among the heterogeneous groups.

Possibly I will never know greater honour in my life than to be personally invited by my hero and mentor Professor Ben Nwabueze to review the third volume of his Autobiography titled “MY LIFE AND WORK IN THE SEARCH FOR A NEW, BETTER AND UNITED NIGERIA”.

Stepping into octogenarian fold with grace is a journey worth celebrating. For Uncle Fred Agbeyegbe whose 80th birthday berthed some kind of theatrical carnival brings to fore a rethink – the style in which deceased are celebrated opulently, instead of luxuriant cascades for living legends. However, both deserves eulogies to inspire success quest in living beings.
