The National Troupe of Nigeria will on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Cinema Hall II of the National Theatre round up the 2016 edition of its annual Children’s Creative Station Workshop (CCSW) with a command performance of the ‘Dented Anthill’. The Play was created by the participants of the Creative workshop and directed by foremost dramatist and choreographer, Peter Badejo (OBE).

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced Elfike Film Collective’s The Wedding Party as one of the films that will premiere on its prestigious opening night as a selection of the Spotlight City to City programme. The premiere scheduled for Thursday, 8 September, 2016 will hold at the historic Elgin Theatre.

Art and culture lovers in and around Nigeria will witness what can be described as the best of Arts as the 2016 edition and 10th anniversary of the youth empowerment programme, Life In My City Art Festival (LIMCAF) kicks off in the coal city of Enugu. The high profile one week event which will be graced by the Governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe,Agbogidi of Onitsha, Oba Otudeko and others is scheduled to open on October 24, with exhibitions and lectures and end on October 29, with a grand finale and gala night.

The Flora Nwapa Foundation invites abstracts for 15 – 20 minute presentations during the National Conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of EFURU under the theme; EFURU@50; A Celebration of Flora Nwapa and African Women Literature. The conference will be held at Abuja, Enugu, Lagos and Maiduguri between 29th November – 11th December 2016. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30th September, 2016.

Flora Nwapa was the first black African internationally admired female novelist. Her first book, Efuru was published in 1966. She is a Nigerian author, teacher, administrator and a herald of whole generation of African women writers. But despite her numerous achievements, not much has been done for her since her death 23 years ago. It was on this basis that the Flora Nwapa foundation in conjunction with the organising committee of Efuru @50 is set to celebrate the pioneer African women literature, Flora Nwapa, as Efuru turns 50.
