Akpabio withdraws suit against INEC

Former Senate Minority Leader, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, on Friday, withdrew the suit he filed to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  from issuing Certificate of Return to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chris Ekpenyong, who defeated him in the February 23 Senatorial election.

As a journalist, one is apprehensive covering Nigeria’s elections for several reasons because rather than being seen as a festival of some sorts, Nigeria’s General Elections are more like battle  royale. So, when we conduct elections, we actually go to war. In short, for Nigerians, nay Africans, it would appear that election is war, not by other means, but in the literal sense of the word.
