THE immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state yesterday picked holes in the report of the Contract Review Committee which indicted the former governor over the 1,400 contracts awarded by his administration in the last six years.

Each of the 17 councils was supposed to pay certain amount of money as counter part fund in the collaborative programme on immunization. But the councils, it was learnt had refused to pay, which was why the state government had not released the vehicles to them.

Coordinator of the group, Mr. Nnonyelu Offoma in a statement in Awka, Anambra state yesterday, said it should be borne in mind that the Vice President was chosen for the office because it was expected that he would use the position to resolve the crisis in the region.

The Sokoto State Council of Ulamah and Imams has reacted to the demonstration staged by members of Shi’ite Muslims at the National Assembly referring to its earlier letter of March 5, 2008 to President Yar’Adua about the alleged “insurgen-cy and criminal activities of the Shi’ite members in Sokoto”.

Mr Godwin Nyame, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who disclosed this in Jalingo said that the state government requested the supply of 60,000 tonnes of fertilizer from the Federal Govern-ment, adding, however, that only 21,000 tonnes were supplied.
