Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) have vowed to continue with their indefinite nationwide industrial action which enters the nineth day today until their major demand of immediate implementation of the staff Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) 15 is granted by the Federal Government.

About 19 students who graduated from the college in 2008 were sent to various universities in England and USA to do four years to obtain their first degree in economics, accounting, business management, law, politics, marketing and sciences.

However, Sarki absolved the management team of any fraudulent practice, saying “what we have established so far is that rather than underfunding, the university is being overfunded and that there is foot-dragging on the take off of various projects at the main campus and the four centres,” explaining further that the administration of Dr. Aliyu has no plans to close down the university, relocate it or starve it of funds but rather, it has taken steps, towards making it more functional and one of the most vibrant in the country.

However, there is the need for government and owners of private schools to make learning resources available and to see them as supplemental and not substitutional of classroom-based teaching. Presently, many schools do not have enough learning resources for all students.

Rhors urged the students to be patient, work hard and keep their eyes set on the goals they want to achieve. He continued that change can happen and asked that Nigeria should be seen in the light of what it can become.
