Imagine the picture of old men, their eyes closed in prayer. Mind you, this is not a prayer for the success of their children as many senior citizens are wont to do. This is a prayer for their survival, a prayer to God to touch the heart of government to pay their entitlements after labouring in their youth in the public service but made to suffer in their old age.

The national minimum wage is in the news again. This time, the issue is whether or not to have it retained on the exclusive list or to have it on the concurrent list. FEDERATION of Informal Workers of Nigeria, FIWON, has faulted the decision by the Senate to make leaders of the National Assembly receive life pension, saying it shows the level of insensitivity of the senators to the mood of the nation.

THE National Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, has said no fewer than 500,000 workers have keyed into the Employees Compensation Scheme, ECS. It has also paid over N200 million employees that were injured at workplaces since the commencement of ECS.
