Tension is high between the people of Adani, a community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State and Fulani herdsmen whom they alleged are committing criminal acts in their area. The situation has got so bad to the extent that the Police Area Commander in Nsukka, about 45 kilometres from the community, Ros- armson Haladu, an Assistant Commissioner of police, had to relocate temporarily to Adani for peace to reign.

Three persons have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs in and out of the country. The suspects were apprehended at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos for ingesting 161 wraps of narcotics weighing 3.085kg.

Police detectives in Ogun State are combing the nooks and crannies of the state and other environs in frantic search for the owner of a black jeep that reportedly drove into Ajike Medical Centre in Sango Ota, where the corpse of a 13-month-old baby was allegedly mutilated.

The recently paraded child trafficking syndicate at the Lagos state police command, Ikeja, were arraigned at the Apapa Family court on Thursday, May 30th 2013. Three of the defendants, Benedette Ogbonna, Chibueze Mba, and Adaeze Mba who were alleged to be directly involved in the stealing and selling of the children pleaded not guilty to the eight -count charge brought against them while the fourth defendant, Patricia Anibogu, the 61 year- old who allegedly bought one of the children from Benedette Ogbogu, also pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge brought against her.

A commercial bus driver,Steven Emeka, 24, and his conductor, Tosin Kadri, 20, were last Monday, remanded in prison custody for alleged armed robbery. The defendants who are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery were arraigned in a Lagos Magistrate’s court, sitting in Ikeja, before Magistrate Abimbola Oshodi-Makanju.
