Town Hall Meeting: Accountability to the People
The concept of democracy is anchored on the time honoured principle that sovereignty belongs to the people who periodically have the civl duty to choose their leaders. In Nigeria, in the current dispensation, the electorate have the power to choose their leaders in every four years. However in Delta State, the governor is not waiting for four years to render accountability to the people, rather he and his team embarked on tour of the local government areas to meet the people couched in lofty terms as the town hall meeting. This did not come from the blues, rather it is a promise given to the people of the state by the governor that he would rather meet the people in their domains and feel their pulses.

Chief David Edebiri is the Esogban of Benin Kingdom. As the Odionwere of the Kingdom, he is responsible for the security and progress in the Kingdom. In this interview, Esogban who is the second in command in the hierarchy of the first class chiefs of the Oba of Benin after the Iyase of Benin, explained why the Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare 11 placed a curse on human traffickers and cultists in the state. He disclosed that the charms which he described as missiles used by the Oba in placing the curse had not seen sunlight for 800 years, which was an indication that the revered monarch was very concerned about the activities of human traffickers which had obviously given the kingdom a bad name. According to Esogban, whoever failed to heed the warning of the Oba would surely incur the wrath of the gods especially if the perpetrator ever drank or drinks the water from the Kingdom or set his or her foot in Benin Kingdom.
