Onuoha—who  has been president of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences (NAS), since January, 2017—explicated current issues, his priorities, among others.

There has been a whole lot of silence on sexuality, and if they are even going to talk about it, they will use acronyms, euphemisms, suggestive words and phrases. When people have been raised in that kind of environment, it becomes difficult for them because they have not acquired the skills, and, more importantly, the open mindedness to discuss broadly on the issues of sexuality.
