Dede is a video director/producer and his video credits include Banging by Ruggedman, Ijo Fuji (Remix); Ayuba, Tolotolo; Freewindz and Originality- which he co-directed with Peter Igho for his brother, Faze. In this interview, he narrates his journey into video production and directing.

I didn’t handle things maturely because I didn’t know a lot of things. I didn’t seek advice because you don’t know who will give you a good one or a wrong one. I acted on impulse but all the same I didn’t regret it. The only thing I regret is not knowing what I know now.

The crisis that polarised Actors Guild of Nigeria deepened last Wednesday with the emergence of Segun Arinze as factional president of the association. SegunArinze emerged president on the platform of the Ejike Asiegbu-led leadership.

I met a South African sometime ago who tried to find out how long it takes us to shoot our movies. And when I told her, she didn’t believe me. She asked about how many cameras we use and I said one. The woman began to wonder if we are magicians and I told her we are.

“A thief cannot steal from himself”, he said, “the marketers who are marketing these CDs like Ahbu Ventures, Pacific, Sonic, Afro best, Oceanic and to mention a few have the license to do so .We want to work with anonymous agencies to fight against piracy. We are inviting censor and other government agencies to come and establish their offices here and monitor and see things for themselves”, he ended while declaring Alaba safe for business.

Hollywood has got a huge market. I don’t know how to compare Hollywood with Nollywood except the fact that Hollywood is a more vast film industry than Nollywood. You can behold American films anywhere in the world which is not peculiar to movie made in Nigeria. I think, that just the major disparity.
