So, President Goodluck Jonathan finally responded to Obasanjo’s letter after sixteen days of receiving it and when many Nigerians were already thinking he had nothing to say or that the allegations made against him were true. Some mischief makers even suggested that perhaps, the President was waiting for Dame Patience Jonathan to respond on his behalf or give him the go-ahead to do so.

After reading the letters of both Obasanjo and his beloved daughter Iyabo, I fell in love with the Obasanjo family all over again.

The All Progressives Congress seems to be having an owambe party all over Nigeria; from the North to the South and is getting all the media attention required. The party also appears to be mocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and celebrating the implosion of the ruling party.

Nigerians have a way of killing ideas whenever any is suggesed. Anytime any government comes up with ideas, opposition will equally take a pessimistic disposition to kill whatever idea and even when government means well, that is largely misinterpreted or misjudged. The pessimists always go to any length to destroy whatever is being suggested.

When market women took to the streets to protest the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike which has lingered for about four months now, it portrayed a very dangerous signal. Many wondered which of the parties involved in the face-off mobilised the market women, but I tell you, they needed nobody to mobilise them.

Traditional institutions are supposed to play a neutral role in politics but one cannot say same of Nigerian traditional institutions. Now it appears they are trying to rope in the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe into the politics of the up-coming Anambra guber election.

I don’t know if Nigeria will survive this but I hope and pray she does. The impunity of gunmen is getting more scary. Could it be that our leaders are running out of ideas on how to go about it? Is President Jonathan losing the battle against the menace of terrorism?

Nigeria is a great country and Nigerians are beautiful people. The average Nigerian is enduring and enterprising and can survive any challenge in life .
