Lagos State governorship: 2015 Christian Agenda –1
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, should start now thinking of a Christian successor to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, a Muslim, by religion, for 2015. Otherwise Christians should spend the next three and a half years, before the April 2015 elections, searching for another political party in which they will no longer be treated as second class members.
President Jonathan & ‘unfulfilled’ prophecy –1
It can be safely assumed that the statement issued by General Azazi was cleared and approved by President Jonathan, Commander-In-Chief, C-I-C, of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Medium term fiscal framework & the banking sector –2
“I want to see a situation where bank depositors can go to sleep with their two eyes closed”. Professor Chukwumah Soludo, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, August 2004. And for Soludo, security could only be guaranteed by creating banks which were “too big to fail. Like the author of the great ship, called Titanic whose builder boasted that “even God cannot sink it,” Soludo, as we had noted earlier, got his wish.
Before we occupy: Constructive advice to President – 3
Too much inequality can harm the efficient operation of an economy…excessive inequality can have two perverse consequences: first, the very wealthy lobby for favours. Contracts and bailouts that distort markets; second growing inequality undermines the ability of the poorest to invest in their own education…These factors mean that high inequality can generate further high inequality and eventually poor economic growth.
At last the truth on Vision 20:2020
“It is expected that based on the implementation of the Vision 20:2020 Economic Blueprint, which again goes to the root of resource management, the nation’s GDP should be growing at about 14 per cent per annum from 2010 to 2020, to realize this vision.
Before we occupy: constructive advice to president -1
Everywhere you look, the ruling classes, represented by the ruling party – at all levels – have become the enemies of the people – meaning the nation itself. It has taken over two thousand years for the people of the world to understand that nobody, and I mean nobody, can be trusted with power for too long without breeding corruption…
Nigeria’s capital market: Past, present and future – 1
The former Director General of the Nigeria Stock Exchange, Dr Ndi-Onyiuke, was supposed to be charged last week, in Lagos, for embezzling, along with others, N3 billion. Her lawyers are still doing what lawyers do best – they are stalling the trial.
Leadership & national crisis: A comparison
Let me use this occasion to re-assure Nigerians and members of the international community that we now have strong leads as to those involved in this terror war against Nigeria and Nigerians. I have directed security operatives to go after them no matter where they may be hiding”.
Reactions to Dele’s column
Very big thank you for touching on today’s youth and attitude to education. Some parents even arrange expo and bribe for invigilators to make their wards pass school certificate and JAMB. We are indeed doomed.
CCB vs Tinubu: Bloody waste of time- 2
If you hope to see the end of this case you must have more than nine lives. It will most probably outlast the life of this administration and distract its attention for as long as it lasts. You can bet on that!
FG vs Tinubu: Bloody waste of time
“If you are looking for trouble, you’ve come to the right place” Notice on the wall of a tavern in Kansas City in the days of the Wild Wild West in the America c1760.
To President Jonathan: On national security– 3
Mr President, just in case your administration proves to be forgetful of recent history, let me remind you of something I wrote last March, on mindless violence, and what followed. Another anniversary is round the corner- just 13 days away as a matter of fact.
To President Jonathan: On national security – 2
Let me use this occasion to reassure Nigerians and the international community that we now have strong leads to those involved in this terror war on Nigeria and Nigerians. I have directed security operatives to go after them no matter where they may be hiding…There shall be no sacred cows”.
To President Jonathan: On national security – 1
One of the few lessons I learnt in my early years in the United States was the popular saying that “Politics ends at the border”. Once the US was engaged in hostilities with another country, every patriotic citizen of America was expected to stand solidly behind the President and Commander-in-Chief, C-I-C, of the armed forces. It is my strong belief that America started losing wars when that solid defence broke down.
Victor Attah vindicated – 2
I once wrote an article in defence of Attah during his first term when he came under attack for two decisions that were destined to have lasting impact on the economic and social lives of the people of Akwa Ibom State. The first was his decision to invest in ECONET Wireless shares and the second was the construction of Ibom Plaza.
