Bus Stop Parliament

Nudity is the order of the day

IN the past nudity in any form was considered a mark of uncivilisation, but today, it’s like the more you bare, the more civilised or fashionable you are considered. Parliamentarians focused on this when Peter suddenly exclaimed: “Phew! What is this world turning to? Is it now a crime to dress decently? Didn’t these two people look at themselves in the mirror before leaving home?”

All eyes now turned to the direction of the speaker. Lo and behold, two young scantily dressed ladies were standing by the roadside, apparently waiting to get on a bus.

Said Nikky: “Ehn, is this new? This is the in-thing. They are moving with the trend.”

Cuts in another passenger by name Frank: “Please spare me. What kind of trend is that? Can’t we think? And their so-called mothers are not cautioning them,” to which Victor replied: “Some mothers do their best.

They can only do so much. You can force a horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink water. We know that some of these girls do this as a result of peer pressure.”

“Victor we are saying the same thing. If they were properly brought up at home, no amount of peer pressure will make them go naked in the name of fashion. After all the Bible says we should train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Parents should inculcate that discipline in their children.

If they miss it at that point, they’ve missed it for life. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks,” stated Frank.

“Very true Frank. You talk about young girls, what about the older women? Even married women are not left out in this craze. They expose their breasts, buttocks, stomachs, thighs, everything,” said Dan disgustingly.

Said Ben: “Breasts no be better breasts sef. Dead, lifeless boobs. It’s so annoying. Some of those people who expose their bodies don’t even have smooth skin. I feel like puking when I look at some of them. There was one I saw in a bus one day putting on G-String. The entire buttocks were showing as she was alighting from the vehicle. All eyes were on her. I was ashamed on her behalf. There is a saying that the mad man does not know shame, but his relatives are ashamed on his behalf.”

“You all are blaming the women now, forgetting that it takes two to tango. I know a woman who doesn’t like clothes that expose her body but her husband likes such clothes and makes it a point of duty to shop for her. So don’t just heap the whole blame on the women,” noted Vick.

“Yes oo. Most men love it that way. ‘If you have it, flaunt it,’ they would say,” stated Nikky.
“Eh, if it’s only those who have it who flaunt it, there would be no problem, but our eyes are assaulted on a daily basis with all sorts of things. From knock-knees, to big tummies, to flat breasts, I mean, it’s disgusting,” stated Mike. Continuing he said: “So Koma people on the hills of Adamawa State who were a few years ago regarded as very primitive because wearing of clothes was a strange phenomenon to them, can be regarded as fashionable now?”

Said Frank: “Koma people wear clothes now. You know some missionaries and later, the government, met with them and forced them into putting on clothes before going into town. It was difficult initially but it worked eventually.”

Said Tony: “Remember the adage that says you should cut your coat according to your cloth? That is what is happening now. Cloths are expensive and so people have learnt to buy as little as possible.”

“You can’t be serious Tony. It is not about the cost of cloths, it’s just that women want to be naked, they want to be ‘civilised’.”

“May be if God should have commanded us to go about naked, that way, we would have been dressing decently because human beings always want to do what they are told not to do,” said Shola.
