Murder: A-Ibom CP deploys special forces to Eket

The Police Service Commission said on Monday that its Recruitment Board has approved the 10th of August 2024 for the commencement of training for successful applicants of the 2022 Constable Recruitment exercise.

Eket—THE Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State command Mr.Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi has ordered the immediate deployment of special forces from the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, to Eket local government area following the murder of a 27-year-old Corps member.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday said the special forces were deployed to Eket to unravel the circumstances that led to the murder of a Corp member and apprehend the culprits.

Elkana said that the command received the report of the murder of the Corps member whose identity was undisclosed on Sunday.

He said: “The incident was reported to the Police on January, 7, 2018 at about 2300hrs. The 27-year- old NYSC member attached to a public School at Nung Obong in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area was attacked in front of a lock-up shop at Akanimo street, Eket Local Government Area.

“The deceased was hanging out with other youth Corp members whom he visited when he was attacked.

“According to an eye witness, the murder was carried out by unknown assailants on motorcycle, who opened fire at the deceased person.

“The Commissioner of Police has visited the scene to have an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.”
