Peace eludes Anambra PDP

By Vincent Ujumadu

Peace in Anambra State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears elusive as the embattled Chief Bright Nebedum-led executive of the party insists that it remains the legally constituted state executive of the party as no court of law in the country has stated otherwise.

In a statement signed by the publicity secretary of the faction of the PDP in the state, Chief Chikaodi Anarah, the group said that it is the only body that can issue genuine party cards to  members, adding that the exercise would commence as soon as the national secretariat of PDP gives the go-ahead to that effect.

A communique issued at the end of its meeting in Awka  reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, the Barr Bright Nebedum-led EXCO remains the only legally and properly constituted PDP EXCO in Anambra State.”

The congress through which the EXCO emerged was duly conducted according to the extant rules and was successfully completed.

“The national secretariat of the PDP issued a certificate of return to that effect and the result of subsequent congresses held at the zonal and national levels in which officers of the same state EXCO participated as delegates were accepted and the winners at those levels are today functionaries of the party.
