Dangote Industries Limited has made a donation of N5million to the Ikorodu Divisional Resource Group, towards the actualization of its dream project of building a resource centre to boost the educational development of Ikorodu town.
Making the donation recently in Lagos, the President/Chief Executive of the company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, re-affirmed his company’s unwavering commitment to sustainable community development and empowerment as a core business philosophy.
He maintained that for any business to thrive, it must make the required social investment in infrastructure and human development within and beyond its host communities.
In his words, “the Dangote Group is never alienated from the developmental efforts of its host communities because our community relations strategy has always been to fully integrate with the communities, thus contributing in any way we can towards their development.
“We have had an excellent relationship with Ikorodu town, and will always be glad to be associated with development efforts in the community because we are also direct beneficiaries of the products of such initiatives.â€
In her reaction, the member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised the Dangote Group and its President/Chief Executive, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for supporting the town in its time of need.
She pledged to work hard to ensure that the resource centre becomes a success, and enjoined other Nigerian industrialists to emulate the Dangote Group by assisting communities in the implementation of people-oriented programmes and projects.
On his part, the secretary general of the Ikorodu Division Resource Group, Eng. Erogbogbo said the proposed centre would enhance the development of education in the area.
He expressed gratitude to Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his assistance to the Ikorodu Community over the years.
