UGHELLI—A former member of the Federal House of Representatives from the Isoko Federal Constituency, Chief Anthony Efekodha, has called on Deltans to ensure the election of a dynamic youth with fresh ideas as the Governor of the state in 2011.

Efekodha who spoke when he played host to former military officer, Prof Saliba Mukoro in Enwhe, Isoko South Local Government Area, said the entry of Prof Mukoro into the gubernatorial race in Delta State under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  was a good development.

He described Mukoro as a brilliant army officer with a good sense of patriotism and as offspring of Niger Delta. He expressed the hope that he (Mukoro) would champion the cause of the oppressed people of the region and Delta State in particular. He said as a founding member of the PDP in Delta State, he attracted prominent and patriotic individuals to the party.

He decried the marginalization of minorities leading to abandonment of projects all over the Isoko nation.

He stressed the need for people to recognise heroic indigenes, such as Prof. Mukoro,  who took up the fight for his people over 20 years ago. In his remark, Mukoro said the level of poverty amongst Deltans was high, adding that he was attracted into the governorship race to rescue the people from poverty and neglect.
