The Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, has described the election of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor as the new President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as a sign of hope for the masses in Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message by Mr Joseph Evah on behalf of the group, the Ijaws said that the election clearly shows that God has not abandoned Nigerians, adding that the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, is a workaholic in the vineyard of God.
“Niger Deltans are proud, Nigerians are proud of this moment in Christendom, that a selfless and courageous man of God from our homeland with service to humanity and God as his focal point, has emerged to manage Christ’s flock in our country.
“We thought it was only South Africa that could produce the like of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who stood-up to defend the masses against bad government policies and actions, but today we thank God for giving us Pastor Oritsejafor,” he added.
