The Super Eagles exit from the on-going 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa  is believed by Ex-International and Pelavis FC coach, Humphrey Jebba to be the result of the betrayal of coach Shiabu Amodu by the Nigerian Football Association, (NFA).

In a chat with Saturday Vanguard Sports, coach Jebba said, “you cannot deprive a man the reward of his labour when it is due him and expect everything to be okay.” According to him, “Amodu’s spirit played a big roll in the Eagles disappointing performance at the tournament because his spirit cannot be happy unless occupying his rightful position on that bench at the World Cup.”

Reacting to the game, he said that the match was a disappointment and the boys played below expectation. In his words, “we had the game under control with an early goal, but sat back which cost us the first goal we conceded. We had no business defending after scoring an early goal, we should have pressed forward for more goals.”

He added that “ Kanu did justify his inclusion in the team. His presence on the pitch showed a link between the midfield and attack, delivering neat passes to the attack with so much experience and calmness. After his substitution, it was obvious that a vacuum was created, the calmness and connection between the midfield and attack disappeared.”
