BAUCHI — As part of its efforts at tackling problem of unemployment in the state, the Bauchi State Commission for Youth and Women Rehabilitation and Development, BACYWORD, has trained 261,000 youths and women in various developmental programmes, just as it plans to enroll more people in the training for the remaining part of the year.

Director General of BACYWORD, Prof MaiSamari, who disclosed this to newsmen in his office yesterday said this was part of the administration’s intervention to take youths away from the streets and make them fully engaged to enable them have a brighter future.

Maisamari maintained that the  programmes included skill acquisition, security service, sanitation duties, educational intervention, micro business, waste recycling plant among others and that so far 9,000 youths have been trained in various trades which include fish farming, carpentry, computer training, modern photography, video coverage etc.

Maisamari also disclosed that arrangement had been concluded to disburse over N450 miilion to the recent graduates of different skills as interest free loan in cash and kind, adding that already the government has entered into partnership with financial institution on the disbursement.
