ABUJA—THE  Federal Government has concluded plans for the promotions of 121,210 officers including a Deputy Inspector-General of Police,four  Assistant Inspectors-General and 124 officers from the rank of Assistant Commissioners to Commissioners of Police.

Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Adamu Waziri, who said this, yesterday, noted that in the Superintendent Category involving ASP to CSP, 13,412 officers would be promoted, Inspectorate category involving Assistant Chief Inspectors, Deputy Chief Inspectors and Chief inspectors, 15,348 officers would be promoted while in the other ranks category, 92,319 officers would be promoted.

Waziri added that the ministry would ensure that merit and federal character were upheld in the submissions to the Police Service Commission, PSC in the exercise.

According to the minister: “the overall budgetary implication that will make the NPF establishment to increase by about 121,210, spanning DIG to Police Constable will be about N6.2 billion and there is enough budgetary provision for the emoluments.”

He also spoke on the proposed establishment of the Police Reform Trust Fund, stressing that the Federal Executive Council, FEC,  had approved the passage of a bill to establish the Trust Fund.
