As part of preparations for the Local Government elections, scheduled to hold  in June, 2017, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission,LASIEC, has said that Card Reading Machines will not be used during the polls.

LASIEC Chairman, Justice Ayotunde Philips (retd),disclosed the plan to jettison the machines at the stakeholders’ forum for Lagos West Senatorial District, held under the theme; ‘Participatory Democracy: Essential for sustainable development,” held in Badagry Local Government.

Philips maintained that every step taken by the commission was aimed at ensuring that winners in the  elections get their mandate in a free, fair and credible contest.
