Iheanacho, Iwobi & Musa
The 2016/17 Champions League draw held Monday pitched some clubs with Nigerian players in their ranks with some very tough opponents. Which of these will advance to the round of sixteen?
Manchester City vs. AS Monaco: Iheanacho optimistic
In contrast to previous years, when City have been handed particularly tough Last 16 draws, this year the Citizens have been pitted with AS Monaco. The Club of the Principality will be no walk-over—they topped Group E despite being fourth seeds—but pundits are still tipping City to advance. Expect Pep Guardiola to restore Yaya Toure to his UCL squad, and don’t be surprised to see both the Ivorian legend and Kelechi Iheanacho reach the quarter-finals. Reaching the QFs: Toure, Iheanacho, Adarabioyo.

Iheanacho, Iwobi & Musa
Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal: Mountain to climb for Iwobi
This is a disastrous draw for Arsenal, who did so well to top Group A ahead of Paris Saint-Germain only to be reunited with Bayern, one of Europe’s genuine giants. This will be a litmus test for Alex Iwobi and the rest of the Gunners’ promising talents, although we don’t think they’ll have enough to see off a Bayern team who have had their teething problems under Carlo Ancelotti, but who still boast immense class and strength in depth. There’s reason for optimism for Arsenal, but we just believe it will be beyond them.
Sevilla vs. Leicester City: Musa on the verge of history with City
These two will be fairly happy with their draws, having each missed some of the bigger dogs lurking. This is firmly uncharted territory for the Foxes, but we’re tipping them to advance as they continue to take their continental opponents by storm. Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani turned on the class against Manchester City and may be too much for Sevilla, while the midfield tussle between Steven N’Zonzi and Daniel Amartey could be explosive! Reaching the QFs: Mahrez, Slimani, Amartey, Ahmed Musa, Nampalys Mendy, Jeffrey Schlupp.
