*Police say case not reported

Palpable fear has gripped the family of 45-year-old, Odusola Onayemi Odukoya, an indigene of Odo-Nopa, Ijebu-Imusin area of Ogun State over her mysterious disappearance last month.

Odusola who left home precisely Monday 14th of November, 2016 for work was a staff of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, an agency of the Lagos State Government before her disappearance.

Odusola who lived alone at her residence on Number 45, Olaleye, Sawmill, Bariga area of Lagos was said to have left home for work, but did not get to her office at number 3, Oto Road, Ijora Olopa, Lagos, according to information made available to the family by one of her colleagues.

A family source who spoke to Vanguard said the matter had been reported to the police.

But the police denied there was no such case reported.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, said: “The Ifako Police Division confirmed there was no such case reported with them.”

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity maintained that the matter was reported: “The matter was reported to the Police Division at Ifako, Bariga where the officers advised us to bring money so that they would help us put the announcement in the media without taking any decisive action at finding our sister. They said it is our responsibility to find her.”

The source expressed disappointment over the attitude of her employer, LAWMA, saying not even a single official of LAWMA has deemed it fit to inform the family of the incident.

“We are yet to know the efforts they are making in finding our sister. We are worried about her fate. For three weeks since this incident occurred we have not heard from her.”

The source further stated that, the victim until her sudden disappearance was a single woman with no suitor and very sound physical and mental health.

Odukoya who is also the former Medical Director of University of Lagos Teaching Hospital, LUTH, appealed to Nigerians and the government to help find his niece. “I am calling on the media to assist us in making this information known to the public so that we can track her no matter what the situation is. This is my plea to the media and members of the public,” he said.
