ENUGU-based African Heritage Institution, AHI, said weekend, it has equipped 40 university lecturers with relevant skills needed to proffer solutions to the country’s economic recession.
In a statement, the Executive Director of the Institution Prof. Ufo Okeke-Uzodike, said that the lecturers were trained on how to apply econometrics methodologies in tackling economic recession in the country.
“The overall goal of the training programme is to increase skills, expertise and knowledge for the appreciation, use and applications of econometrics methodologies/techniques for policy analysis – formulation, implementation and forecasting with the aim to proffer economic solutions that are workable and increase the effectiveness and credibility of academics in policy analysis,” he said.
According to him, emplaced solutions seem to defy the quest for effectiveness and academics and experts seem to have lost credibility due to their continued ineffectiveness as policy makers, analysts and implementers.
On sustainability, he said: “The course is planned to run annually and will involve government and CBN officials.
