KANO- Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has warned that police highhandedness in dealing with Shi’ite matters could lead to chaos unless they revised their strategy.
Addressing Journalists in Kano, Shi’ite local leader, Sanusi AbdulKadir Koki said that “the idea of employing brute force to tackle our group could lead to chaos at the long term unless police review their strategy”
Koki whose group had bloody encounter with the police in Kano last Monday explained that “police poor strategy is gradually pushing us to the brink, and yet well meaning individual are watching while police action and inaction pointed to chaos”.
Giving a comprehensive details of the group’s bloody encounter with the police, Koki said ” we came under attack without provocations, and a two years old was among those shut in the skull”
Koki stressed that ” our religious inclination are matter of the heart, therefore no amount of intimidation or blackmail could change our posture , and it would be better to live us with our faith.”
Shi’ite local leader revealed that “police decision to broke our procession with maximum force was an orchestrated crime against defenseless group, and must not go unpunished”.
Koki disclosed that “we are going to court to seek redress and further seek to establish whether the police who are saddled with protection of life has compromised their fundamental mandate and become a killer squad”.
The embittered Koki accused the police of removal of 40 corpse of its members deposited at Government morgue, adding that that ” action signalled conscious effort to obliterate facts”.
