Ota—ORGANISED Labour weekend in Otta, Ogun State, said it sent a proposal to employers’ federation on the aegis of Chemical and Non-Metallic Products Employers’ Federation, CANMPEF, for a review of existing conditions of service and upward review of workers’ salaries and other benefits to cushion the effect of economic recession.

Through the National Union of Chemical, Footwear, Rubber, Leather and Non-Metallic Products Employees, NUCFRLANMPE, labour said the subsisting conditions of service, negotiated through the National Joint Industrial Negotiating Council; NJINC would expire on December 1, hoping to conclude negotiation on a new condition of service before December.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Union maiden Central Working Committee, CWC, after its recent National Delegates Conference, NDC, in Abuja, new President of the union, Mr. Goke Olatunji, said the employers’ federation had received the proposal and negotiation would begin in earnest.

Olatunji said: “We have sent a proposal to the employers’ federation for new a condition of service under the NJINC. The existing one will expire by December 1 and we hope we will be able to finish discussion on it before December.”

He also disclosed that as a step to the massive unionization drive agenda of the new administration, the leadership had gotten the assurance of the employer’s federation to allow the union access to service providers (recruiters) in the sector towards unionizing outsourced, contract and casual workers.
