AN accounting expert and researcher at the Babcock University, Ogun State, Mr Oyebanji Oludayo has recommended waiving of interests, penalties and fines on outstanding collection on various tax payers as solution to tax non-compliance.
He said that if interests and penalties on taxes are written off, there is high probability that various tax payers will comply with remittances of their tax to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, thereby boosting the economy of the states.
Oludayo’s research entitled: “Impact of internally generated revenue on the infrastructural development of states”, was supervised by Professor Ishola Akintoye and Dr. Fola Adegbite.
