YENAGOA—BAYELSA State Governor, Chief Seriake Dickson, has underscored the importance of agriculture in economic development, describing it as the only way of improving the economic fortunes of the country at this time.
Dickson made the disclosure in Government House, Yenagoa, yesterday, while receiving participants from the National Defence College, NDC, Abuja, who were on a study tour of the state.

The governor who was represented by his deputy and former commandant of the college, Rear Admiral Gboribogha John-Jonah (retd), noted that the theme: “Food Security and National Development: The Role of States,” was apt and advised the participants to come up with transparent analysis and to advise the state on where to improve on its agricultural programmes.
He said, “We want to thank you for choosing to come to Bayelsa State as part of your training programme. The theme is apt and timely, we are all aware of the role of the economy in governance and the general thinking in the entire country is that the economy can only improve, if we lay the right emphasis on agriculture.”
